Troubleshooting printer problems

Symptoms

• Printer is offline or otherwise unreachable
• Error when attempting to print
• Even though it says the job was sent to the printer, nothing ever comes out

Environment

Hewlett Packard Inkjet 4000

Cause

There are many things that can cause printer failures or jams. Primarily among them is high humidity in the office, bad connections between the printer and the network, wireless interruptions, or user error.

Resolution

1. Click on Start > Troubleshooting
2. Select Printer
3. Run troubleshooting
4. Depending what was found, either follow the instructions on the screen, or start over by purchasing a new printer.
